South San Francisco High School will provide a supportive learning environment that will enable students to demonstrate, upon graduation, a variety of skills in the listed categories showing that they:
Literacy
Students read with understanding, make inferences based on what they have read, and apply what they have learned from their reading.
Communication
Students practice active listening and communicate in speaking and writing, utilizing Standard English
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
Students apply knowledge, skills and concepts for criteria for organizing, analyzing, and evaluating new information. Students recognize a problem, identify the causes of the problem, generate and evaluate possible solutions and designs and implement a plan to solve it.
Technology
Students demonstrate that they employ technical literacy - including the use of calculators, computers, and computer applications - and use and apply the technology necessary in their courses.
Life Skills
Students have the self-management techniques to develop personal and career plans, and the knowledge and skills of how to realize them.
Personal and Social Development
Students demonstrate personal responsibility and self-worth through their educational experiences. Students demonstrate that they can function as ethical, cooperative members of the school community.
